Project Description:
“Family Day at the Detroit Zoo” started as nothing more than an orange couch sitting in the grass. Over weeks of work — layering in one animal at a time, customizing textures, sunglasses, clothing, jewelry, water reflections, lighting, and environmental details — it evolved into a full 10 ft x 8 ft comedic mega-composite.
Every animal was added individually using a hybrid workflow of AI generation, manual illustration, digital painting, detail retouching, and multi-layer compositing -
100% created in Photoshop. The current PSD holds over 300 layers (and counting) as new characters keep joining the scene.
This piece blends humor, imagination, storytelling, and advanced AI techniques to create a world that’s playful, expressive, and full of personality. My long-term goal is to pitch this as a mural to the Detroit Zoo — because honestly… every zoo deserves hippie lions, punk penguins, biker tigers, sunbathing seals, meerkat fashionistas, and a giraffe in a cape. 😎
The evolution of this crazy world design:
It's all in the details:
“10ft x 8ft and still growing…”
- More animals
- More accessories
- More storytelling moments
